The need to change your router's wireless channel may occur when you experience interferences. Interference is one of the most common problems your home network may face and this can be caused by the following:
- electronic devices in your home (cordless phones, speakers and microwave ovens)
- neighbouring Wi-Fi
- physical obstructions (walls, mirrors or glass)
- distance or location
Needing to change your settings? Follow these handy steps which will show you how to make changes to the wireless channels in your BeHub.
Step 1-Log into your heights router by opening a web page and entering the default gateway which is 192.168.50.1. You should now see the following page.
Step 2- Enter the last 6 digits for your routers serial number (this can be found on the back of your router). Once entered, click login. This will then bring you to your routers management page, select wireless on the left hand side.
Step 3- This will open up the wireless section. Here we can make changes to both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz settings.
- Select the first wireless option to make sure this is on 2.4Ghz,
- Select the channel options and select a channel from 1-13
(the router is defaulted on auto, meaning the router will move channels automatically when it feels it needs to)
Step 4- Once you have selected your desired channel number for the 2.4Ghz frequency, repeat this process for the 5Ghz frequency by selecting 5hz under the wireless option.
- Select the first wireless option to make sure this is on 5Ghz,
- Select the channel options and select a channel from 36-128.
Then select the apply option for your router to save the settings.
(Please be aware that changing a wireless channel will cause any connected devices to disconnect from the router, these will reconnect automatically after 30 seconds)
