Connecting to a new SSID - advice

If the SSID (Wi-Fi network name) has changed and you need to reconnect your device to the new network, follow these steps based on your device type:


Windows (10/11):

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar (bottom right).
  2. Find the new SSID (network name) in the list.
  3. Click on it and choose "Connect."
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password, if prompted.

Mac (macOS):

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top-right menu bar.
  2. Select the new SSID from the list.
  3. Enter the Wi-Fi password if required.
  4. You're connected once the icon shows full signal.

iPhone / iPad (iOS):

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the new SSID.
  3. Enter the password.
  4. Tap Join.

Android (varies by version/device):

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the new SSID from the list.
  3. Enter the password, then tap Connect.

If the device won’t connect or shows the old SSID:

  • Forget the old network:
    • Windows/Mac: Right-click or use network settings to “Forget” the old SSID.
    • Mobile devices: Tap the old SSID, choose “Forget.”
  • Restart the device if needed.
