Connecting devices to your BeFibre broadband

There are a few ways to connect your devices to your broadband. Whether you have a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button or not, here’s how to get started:

What is WPS (WiFi Protected Set-up)?

WPS (otherwise known as WiFi Protected Set-up) is a quick way to connect devices without entering a Wi-Fi password manually.

How It Works:

  • Push Button Method
       - Press the WPS button on your router and your device. They’ll connect automatically.
  • PIN Code Method
        - Enter a PIN from your device into your router settings or vice versa.

Good to Know:

  • WPS is simple and fast, but the PIN method may not be as secure. For the best security, use WPA2/WPA3 with a strong password.

Connecting without WPS - Heights

Our BeHub Heights main routers don’t have a WPS button, however you can still connect devices easily. Here’s how:

  • Manual connection

    Find Your Network details
    - Locate your Wireless Network Name and Password on the back of your router.

    Connect Your Device
    - Go to the Wi-Fi settings on your device (laptop, smartphone, printer).
    - Look for your WiFi network from the list of available networks.
    - Select your network and enter your Wi-Fi Password when prompted.

Your device should now connect automatically.
  • Accessing Router Settings

Log into the Router:

- Connect your device to the router using an Ethernet cable or connect to the Wi-Fi if available.

- Open a web browser and enter the router's IP address (Linksys 192.168.1.1 or Heights 192.168.50.1) Log in    using the admin credentials (usually found on the router label).

Configure Settings:
- From the router's admin interface, you can manage your Wi-Fi settings, including changing the SSID or            password.

  • Using Ethernet Connection
For devices that don’t support Wi-Fi, just connect them to the router with an Ethernet cable.

Connecting with WPS on Linksys or BeMesh

  • Prepare the Device
    - Turn on the device you want to connect to make it discoverable.
  • Activate WPS on the Router
    - Press and hold the WPS button at the bottom of your router.
    - The router’s light will flash blue, indicating it’s ready.
  • Connect the Device
    - For printers, press and hold their WPS button.
    - For phones or other devices, go to Wi-Fi settings, select More, and choose WPS button.

Your device should now connect.
